FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is nutrition counseling?
Nutrition counseling is a collaborative, evidence-based process where we work together to identify your goals, understand your current lifestyle and habits, and create personalized strategies that support your health, performance, disease management, overall well-being, and desired outcomes. Sessions often include education, motivational interviewing, and tailored recommendations that fit your lifestyle. We operate remotely and offer virtual nutrition counseling services via telehealth.

What is telehealth and what do I need for a virtual appointment?
Telehealth makes sessions convenient, confidential, and accessible—no commute required. Telehealth sessions are conducted online through a secure HIPAA-compliant video platform.
You’ll need:
-
A stable internet connection
-
A private, quiet space
-
A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
-
To reside in a state where we can offer telehealth (AZ, CA, CO, NJ, and TX)
-
To submit all intake paperwork and forms needed for telehealth

Which states do you serve and why?
Like nurses, Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are credentialed and registered nationally; however, additional state licensure is required by some states. RDNs can see clients 1) in states where they maintain licensure and 2) in states which do not require state licensure. Currently, On Pointe Living is permitted to offer 1-on-1 nutrition counseling services to individuals located in AZ, CA, CO, NJ, and TX. While licensure limitations restrict our 1-on-1 reach, On Pointe Living offers courses and resources to those beyond our licensure reach.

On Pointe Living currently offers cash-pay services and packages to give clients flexibility, transparency, and more control over their care. Coverage varies, so we recommend checking with your insurer about out-of-network nutrition benefits.

What type of packages do you offer?
Packages allow you to bundle sessions at a reduced rate. Packages are ideal for clients seeking ongoing support, sustainable lifestyle improvements, behavior change, and accountability. We offer packages in 3, 5, and 10 session increments. Packages are recommended, because we find most clients benefit from ongoing support and continuity. of care. Sustainable lifestyle and nutrition changes take time. We view working together as an invitation into your life and processes, and seek to offer you a qualified and practical helping hand on your journey.

How long are sessions?
Session lengths may vary based on your goals and needs. These are common session lengths:
-
Initial consultations: 60 minutes
-
Follow-up sessions: 30–60 minutes

How often do I meet with my dietitian?
While needs vary, we find clients are most successful when they have more frequent visits. We recommend starting with weekly sessions. This gives us the opportunity to build a relationship, chart a course, set reasonable "bite-sized" goals, make sustainable adjustments, and adapt in real-time based on whatever life factors or circumstances may present. If you feel weekly visits are not a fit for you, we can discuss desired frequency at your first appointment. Session frequency is subject to change based on progress, needs, and availability.
Do you provide meal plans?
You will not get a rigid meal plan from us. We work with you to find flexible, personalized frameworks and strategies instead of rigid, restrictive meal plans. These frameworks teach you how to build balanced meals, fuel according to your individual needs, and navigate real-life situations with confidence. When helpful, we may include sample meals, snack inspiration, recipes, or shopping guidance tailored to your unique factors, lifestyle, and preferences. We are here to help you on your nourishment journey.
Do you work with dancers or athletes who struggle with eating enough?
Absolutely. As a former professional dancer and performance nutrition specialist, I understand the unique pressures of artistic and high-performance environments. Together, we ensure you’re fueling for performance, growth, strength, longevity, and overall well-being.

What is your approach to weight and body composition?
Our approach is health-forward and person-centered. Weight is just one part of the conversation—never the whole story. We believe in an "all foods fit" approach and focusing on additions over restrictions.
We focus on:
-
Energy availability and metabolic factors
-
Nourishment over restrictions
-
Strength and performance
-
Sustainable habits and reasonable lifestyle changes
-
Bodily respect and function
-
Maintenance of muscle mass
-
Promoting a good relationship with food and body image
-
Learning to work with your body and physiology vs against it

What can I expect in my first session?
The goal of the first few sessions is to get to know you and your unique circumstances, health history, lifestyle factors, and desired outcomes. We assess where you are and explore where you want to go. We’ll work with you to chart the course. We start by exploring:
-
Your goals and concerns
-
Medical/health history
-
Lifestyle and routines
-
Relationship with food, body image, exercise, rest, diet culture, etc
-
Current eating patterns
-
Strengths and areas for support
